Fantastic Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Tour – Mike Was Amazing!
We had a fantastic experience on our tour to Hobbiton and the Waitomo Caves! Both places were absolutely worth visiting, and the whole day was very well organized and enjoyable.
A special mention has to go to our guide, Mike, who was excellent! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely funny, which made the journey between the different stops so much more entertaining. He shared lots of interesting information along the way and created a really relaxed and fun atmosphere throughout the day.
Hobbiton was magical and even more beautiful in person, while the Waitomo Caves were a completely different but equally impressive experience. It was a great combination for a day trip and a wonderful way to see more of New Zealand.
We would definitely recommend this tour — and if you get Mike as your guide, you’re in very good hands!
They indeed gave us an outstanding guest experience. Mike has been the best guide we ever had by telling stories and anecdotes, making us aware of the schedule so we have time to get any break we needed, and to make us feel like we are not in a rush.

The short & tall of it
Stephen was a wonderful guide. Pickup was prompt. He gave us lots of useful information about Auckland.
Hobbiton was amazing 🤩 was surreal to be on a movie set. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you will love it!! Waitomo Caves was beautiful to see too.

The Hobbiton / Waitomo experience was well worth while and can only be recommended
It was well worth having an early start for the day trip. The pick up was over punctual. The driver Mike met us with a huge smile at 6am. That set the tone for the whole day. Mike was very professional towards all passengers and went out of his way to answer all of our questions. The Amosphere on board was created by the driver which made for a very pleasant day trip. The lunch stop was well organised and considering it was not a 3 course meal, (which would have been inappropriate timewise) was of a wonderful standard. I believe this operator is the only one to include lunch. The Waitomo guide also had a wonderful sense of humour. Thank you driver Mike for being a great host. Our experience today has only 1 result. We will recommend Auckland Scenic Tours to our family and friends.
